Going to be doing a few proper blog post updates and there are some website pages under construction as we speak but in the meantime I had to post a link to this article / video (below).
A few people have mentioned previously how they are worried that myself and the videographer 'won't get along' and one bride even mentioned that there was nearly a fist fight at her friend's wedding for the same reason!
I always try my best to be discreet and work with the videographer as best I can so that we both get the shots we want, don't get in each others way and try to maximise the best result for the bride & groom. At the end of the day (its night...hahaha), my job depends on having happy couples who recommend me to their friends / family and I certainly wouldn't want my big day ruined by someone flashing a camera repeatedly 6 inches from my face throughout the ceremony.
I'm planning my wedding and I'm sure you can imagine how pedantic I will be about the photographs and video!
We all have different ways of doing things but there is a balance between the art of discretion and being in the way whilst still capturing the key moments. It actually helps for better photos when the guests forget you are there and the best candid shots can appear from nowhere.
Talking to the officiant is very important to see if they are happy for me to move around, would prefer if I stand completely still or not take photos at a certain moment. Doesn't make the job much easier but rules are rules and I'm happy to follow them if it helps the day run smoothly!
In fact, I tend to think I'm quite easy to get along with... though my Fiancée may disagree!
